Liar!

I always say I am going to update this more often, but then I dont, and that is why I am a liar.

but my reason for lack of updates is the same as always, my life is boring. There is nothing spectacular going on in my life that the 4 of you who follow this blog need to know about.

but Here I am, typing away at 5am because I cant sleep.

I have been having a hard time sleeping lately, and its getting old, I need to be normal again. I like being normal.

This Friday, there is a new Show at Surface Gallery, Its been forever since I have been to the Gallery, It will be good to get out of the house and check it out.

So here is my update, and thats all I have to say for now.

I will try to keep you posted on my life as stuff happens, but with me, its bound to stay as uneventful as always.

Summer Workshop

This Summer, The Gallery Hosted different Summer Art Workshops. I was Lucky to be invited by Yvonne(Still Odd to call her that) to Assist her for the Ceramics Cupcakes. The Workshop ended up being a few people short, so she didnt really need my help, so I got to Play with Clay myself :D

Each Person was Given a pound of Clay and were tasked in creating 2 Ceramic Cupcakes, 1 for Practice, and 1 to show the improving Skills.

Some of the people who were there, it was their first time working with Clay.
Others, Like Myself, have been in a ceramics Class before, so we were able to do what we wanted.
I Wanted a Cupcake, and Something Else.

This is the Cupcake I made.

I Loved It, This was the first time Hand Building a Cupcake, And It turned out awesome.

For my other Piece, I wanted it to Fit with the Desert Theme.
So, I decided on a Doughnut.

This Turned out Really Well too, You cant really tell, but there is a layer of Clay that looks like the Icing, when I Glaze this, It will be a different Color, and will have Sprinkles.

There were 8 people there, and these are some of their Projects.

My Friend Ruth was there, and since she has been in Ceramics, she decided to make something different, and she chose the Monster from Where The Wild Things Are.

I Loved this Little Guy, he turned out Really well.

And Finally, Here were a Few of the Examples she had from Previous Students, and she had made herself.

I had an amazing Time there, and I cant wait until more Workshops start in the fall.

This is where my Heart Truly belongs, In Clay.

New Project

We Started a New Project today, and my Project will involve me making Glazes out of different common materials... like cat Litter, ToothPaste, Alka-Seltzer, Comet, Rolaids, and many other things... i am super excited for this, part of it will involve making all the glazes and testing them out, and the other part will involve making bowls to glaze my work with. but i estimate this to be a Semi-long Project because i have to make all of these glazes and they all have to be Fire tested too.

Still Excited, Expect Pictures :]

Open House

Last Friday was Open House at Surface Gallery. Rose, Rhiannon and I all went to see Chromatic for the last time and to hang out with Mrs. C and the Other Artists.

I took a Few Pictures of Chromatic because next time I go to the Gallery, Chromatic will be no More. January 23 will be the opening for 'Layers' so all of Chromatic will be gone.

Friday was a Fun Night, I think i finally was semi welcomed by the Art Community when all of Mrs. Cavanaghs friends all sat down and Talked to Me, Rose and Rhiannon.

even though Mrs. C was not happy that Liz' brother asked us to get Fake IDs so we could go dancing with them... I liked the Idea... lol.

Im excited for Layers, but semi sad to watch Chromatic Leave.

Paper - Surface Gallery

Well, i know it has been a while, but im finally getting around to posting pictures from Paper.

This was the First Event held at Surface Gallery, the Gallery Owned by my Ceramics Teacher, Mrs. Cavanagh

First Friday was an amazing Night, I had a Wonderful Time with Mrs. Cavanagh, and Rose was there two, Vick and Brent were both Nice, but Liz and Mrs. C were the Life of the Party. there was a Wheel there, and me and Rose both Demonstrated Throwing on the wheel, and later that night, Mrs. C and Liz bith tried to throw. it was a little late, and after a night of partying, it was too much to ask. plus not having the required tools nessisary was not easy.

Paper Featured Mrs. Yvonne Cavanagh, Miss Vicky Cruz, Miss Liz Sherwyn, and Mr. Brent Eviston, all four of them using Paper as a idea for their ideas for art. Mrs. C. made Paper like plates and bowls focusing on the lightness, airy, and smooth quality of Porcelain.

Vicki Took Paper, and Painted Paper in her Art Work.

Brent Drew these Wonderful pieces of Art, and made them look thin and wispy.

And Liz actually Used Paper to make these cut outs which really look amazing up close and under good light. but you really cant see them well in these pictures.
